Since graduating with BA(Hons) Music and obtaining her Certificate of Instrumental Teaching, Advanced Certificate in Performance (now known as dip ABRSM), Licentiate Diploma, and later, Graduate Diploma in Jazz, Rachel has pursued a career as a pianist, educator, and music examiner (grades and diplomas) for Trinity College, London.
Rachel enjoys teaching at all levels and has many years of experience in a variety of settings, both classical and jazz – individual, whole class, small groups, and jazz ensembles.
Rachel’s busy and varied working life includes teaching piano in three schools, organising and directing a short intensive jazz course, leading a weekly jazz workshop, and playing in a well-regarded local big band. As an examiner she has worked extensively across UK and international borders including tours of India.
As an experienced performer and accompanist, for many years she has played on her local jazz scene appearing at festivals and jazz clubs in a variety of bands including her own jazz trios and quartets, and playing with a well-regarded local 18-piece big band.
Rachel has also played as part of the band for numerous shows with schools and has worked with several choirs; St Margaret’s Prep school choir and chamber choir, City of Bath Male Choir, Bath Children’s Choir, and The Grenville Choir.
